What is Yapchat?
A video call with someone new, right in your browser
Press start and Yapchat opens a one-on-one video chat. You don't install anything and there is no feed to scroll through. When a conversation has run its course, tap Next and someone else appears on screen.
It works a lot like random video chat, but every call is one on one: just you and one other person.

Each match is a call between two people. There are no group rooms and nobody watching from the side. You talk to one person at a time, and the call ends as soon as either of you moves on.

Is Yapchat free to use?
Yapchat is free to start. Your free matches have no time limit per call, and when they run out you will see the options to keep going.
Do I need to sign up?
There is no sign-up form. An account is created for you the first time you start a chat, and the people you meet see your nickname, avatar and country.
Can I keep talking to someone after the call?
Yes. Send them a message once the call ends and the chat stays in your inbox. You can also follow people you would like to see again.
What happens when I tap Next?
The current call ends and Yapchat looks for someone else who is online.
Does Yapchat record calls?
No. Yapchat does not record audio or video from your calls.
Can I hide my face during a call?
Turn on blur from the control bar at any time. The other person sees the blurred picture too, and you can switch it off whenever you are ready.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Yapchat runs in mobile and desktop browsers, so there is nothing to download. Allow camera access when your browser asks and the call starts.
